Vestry
The Vestry serves as the legislative authority for the parish and shall transact all of the temporal business of the parish. The primary responsibilities of a Vestry are:
- Care of parish finances.
- Care and maintenance of parish facilities.
- Interview and call a Rector
- Work with Parish Committee
- Assist the Rector in the nurture and extension of Christ's Church.
The legal standing of the Vestry is drawn from three sources:
- The Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church
- The Charter and Canons of the Diocese of Alabama
- The Bylaws of the Church of the Nativity
Nativity's Vestry consists of eighteen members of the parish. Six are selected every year. The Vestry meets once a month, and the meetings are open to members of the parish.
