The Economics of Historic Preservation with Donovan Rypkema

Date: Thursday, May 2

Time: 11 a.m.

Location: Ridley Hall, Church of the Nativity, 208 Eustis Ave.

As Huntsville continues to grow and evolve, we remain committed to preserving our city's unique charm and historical significance. To further explore the potential of our historic sites and structures, the City of Huntsville is thrilled to invite you to a special event featuring a renowned expert in the field.

Based in Washington, D.C., Donovan Rypkema is a distinguished figure in real estate and economic development consulting. He specializes in the intersection of historic preservation and economics. His firm, PlaceEconomics, has been instrumental in revitalizing downtown areas, neighborhoods and commercial districts through the adaptive reuse of historic buildings.

This presentation will address the beneficial economic impacts of historic preservation and explore opportunities for preservation and adaptive reuse projects across our city. Huntsville's historic city center, a preservation success story, exemplifies the positive outcomes of such initiatives.

This event is open to the public, and we encourage you to share this information with your colleagues and organizations. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy this informative session.

If you would like to learn more about the city’s Historic Preservation Month campaign and calendar of events, visit Saving Places on our website.

We look forward to seeing you there and engaging in a productive discussion about the future of Huntsville's historic landscapes.
