EYC (Episcopal Young Community)
Your Guide to what's hip & happenin' at
Nativity
EYC is a community in which youth in grades 7 - 12 come together
to deepen their relationship with Christ, learn about the
Episcopal Church, serve others, share meals, and have fun!
The youth program is a vital part of the parish: youth
participate in many programs and ministries, serving as lectors
and acolytes and sitting on the vestry.
The youth are divided into two groups: Jr. EYC is comprised of
7th and 8th graders, and Sr. EYC of 9th - 12th graders.
Both Jr. and Sr. EYC meet weekly during the school year.
The EYC takes several fun trips such as skiing in North
Carolina, a trip to the Haunted Cavern in Chattanooga, and day
trips to Six Flags and to the lake. In addition to having
fun, the EYC is dedicated to service. The group
participates in a number of local outreach opportunities and in
past years has taken a mission trip to Standing Rock Indian
Reservation in North Dakota. Each sprint, the 9th grade
confirmation class goes to New York city to serve in soup
kitchens and work at the Hospitality House, a homeless shelter
for women and children.
Nativity's EYC is very active within the diocese, participating
in diocesan youth activities including Happening, New
Beginnings, spiritual retreats, and conferences. O course,
everyone is always willing to spend a few days in God's backyard
at Camp McDowell!
The EYC welcomes anyone to come be a part of the community!
