ECW (Episcopal Church Women)

The ECW have been a part of the American Episcopal Church since the early days of the church's formation. Every female who is a member of the Episcopal Church is automatically a member of the ECW. There are no dues or other requirements for membership other than a willingness to serve the Church in whatever way the Rector may request. At Nativity, the ECW is an active fellowship of women who meet on the first Monday of the month for lunch and a brief program. Volunteer cooks prepare the monthly luncheons. The programs

are varied. Cost of the luncheons is $5.00 and no reservations are required. A free nursery is provided. There is also free van transportation.

The principal fundraiser of the ECW is the annual bazaar and luncheon held the Thursday before Thanksgiving. The money raised by the event is used throughout the year to fund many of the requests received by the ECW. In the past, these have included a major gift to Camp McDowell for renovation of the camp, to Nativity for redecorating the main room of Ridley Hall, and to the Downtown Rescue Mission for the construction of the new Sapp Center for Women.

Officers serve for one year, unless requested by the President to extend their terms for an additional year, and the terms run from January to December.
