Churches have a long history of nurturing and supporting the musical arts. Nativity is proud to continue this tradition. St. Augustine wrote that those who sing pray twice. If such is true, then there's a great deal of praying going on at Nativity. Hymns, psalms, canticles, anthems, motets and instrumental offerings are essential elements to our worship on Sunday mornings. The various choirs at Nativity, with members ranging in age from 4 to 88, help lead this parish in "worshipping the Lord in the beauty of holiness."

Ever mindful of our Anglican heritage, our musicians strive for excellence. The music heard on a Sunday morning at Nativity is not similar to that heard on most radio stations throughout the week. We believe that music should be both inspiring and contemplative, leading us into a deeper knowledge of God's presence. The music ranges from Gregorian chant of the 8th century to modern American compositions. Whether sung by the congregation, children's choirs, the adult choir, or played by our handbell ensemble, the music follows the lectionary.

In addition to music on Sunday mornings, we offer opportunities for the larger community to hear great musicians perform recitals in the nave throughout the year. Guest organists, choirs, and other musicians appear as part of the Music for the Nativity series. These concerts, presented with no admission charge, are offered to the members of our parish and the city of Huntsville. The funding for these presentations is made possible by our "Friends of Music."
