Adult Learning Center of Huntsville

Who are we?

The Adult Learning Center of Huntsville (ALCH) is a non-profit partnership between the Church of the Nativity, Episcopal in downtown Huntsville and the Adult Education Program (AEP) of Calhoun Community College.

What do we do?

Volunteers provide individualized instruction in basic reading and math for adults.  An estimated 51% of Alabamians are considered functionally illiterate.  The goal of the ALCH is to lower the illiteracy rate in our community.  The value of volunteers who help functionally illiterate adults improve skills for daily living activities is immeasurable.

How can I help the ALCH?

Volunteers are needed to tutor basic math or reading for a few hours each week.  Donations are also needed to purchase teaching materials and supplies for the students and teachers.  There is no cost to the students for this program.
